Current USCIS filing fees for N-400, I-130, I-485, I-765, I-90 and more, paper vs online, plus H.R. 1 fees, the October 16, 2026 increases, and premium processing.

USCIS fees in 2026 come from the Form G-1055 Fee Schedule (edition 10/07/26). Common examples are $760 paper / $710 online for citizenship (N-400), $675 / $625 for a family petition (I-130), and $1,440 / $1,390 for a green card application (I-485). On top of the regular fees, the H.R. 1 law added fees for asylum, parole, TPS and some work permits, and several of those rise for filings postmarked on or after October 16, 2026.
Key points
- Most forms are $50 cheaper online than on paper. There is no separate biometrics fee for most forms.
- October 16, 2026: the annual asylum fee, initial asylum/parole/TPS work permit fee, TPS fee and parole fee rise. Filings with the old amount will be rejected.
- Premium processing rose on March 1, 2026 to $2,965 for most I-129 and I-140 cases.
- EB-5 forms are at the lower pre-2024 fees after a court stay, but a new EB-5 fee rule takes effect November 30, 2026.
- Always check the USCIS Fee Calculator on the day you file. A wrong fee means a rejected application.
Citizenship and naturalization fees
| Form | Paper | Online | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| N-400, Application for Naturalization | $760 | $710 | Reduced fee $380 (paper only) if household income is at or below 400% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines. $0 for military applicants under INA 328/329. Fee waiver possible with Form I-912 |
| N-600, Certificate of Citizenship | $1,385 | $1,335 | $0 for current or former US armed forces members filing for themselves |
| N-600K (children living abroad) | $1,385 | $1,335 | |
| N-565, Replacement citizenship document | $555 | $505 | $0 if the error was made by USCIS |
| N-470, Preserve residence for naturalization | $420 | n/a | |
| N-426, Certification of military service | $0 |
You cannot file online if you are asking for a reduced fee or fee waiver. You must file a paper N-400. A June 23, 2026 proposed rule would remove the reduced N-400 fee and N-400 fee waivers. It is proposed only and not in effect as of October 11, 2026.

Employment-based petitions
| Form | Paper | Online | Small employer / nonprofit |
|---|---|---|---|
| I-129, H-1B | $780 | $730 | $460 |
| I-129, L-1 | $1,385 | $1,335 | $695 |

Extra employer fees apply on top of these:
- Asylum Program Fee on I-129 and I-140: $600 for regular employers, $300 for small employers (25 or fewer full-time employees) and self-petitioners, $0 for nonprofits. This employer fee is separate from the H.R. 1 asylum fees paid by asylum applicants.
- Fraud Prevention and Detection Fee of $500 for new H-1B and L petitions.
- ACWIA fee for H-1B: $750 (25 or fewer employees) or $1,500.
- Public Law 114-113 fee of $4,000 (H-1B) or $4,500 (L-1) for employers with 50 or more employees where more than half are in H-1B or L status. Since September 9, 2026, this also applies to some same-employer extensions.
H-1B $100,000 payment: as of October 11, 2026, it is not being collected. A federal court in Massachusetts vacated the guidance on June 8, 2026, and a federal court in California struck down the agency policies on September 30, 2026, including the September 2026 renewal. Appeals are pending. A separate DHS proposal for a $103,265 fee on cap-subject H-1B petitions (August 2026) is proposed only. See our H-1B $100,000 fee tracker.
Investor (EB-5) fees
| Form | Current fee |
|---|---|
| I-526 / I-526E | $3,675 (I-526E also has a separate $1,000 EB-5 Integrity Fund fee) |
| I-829 | $3,750 |
These are the pre-April 2024 amounts. USCIS went back to them after a federal court in Colorado stayed the 2024 EB-5 increases on November 12, 2025. A new EB-5 fee rule published September 30, 2026 takes effect November 30, 2026. It raises EB-5 form fees, adds a $75 technology fee to I-526 and I-526E, and raises the Integrity Fund fee to $1,100. Check the G-1055 before filing after that date.

An OPT fees proposed rule (October 8, 2026) would charge $70,000 for initial OPT and $30,000 for a second year. It is not in effect. Comments close November 9, 2026. See F-1 OPT explained.
Humanitarian fees and H.R. 1 (October 16, 2026 changes)
The One Big Beautiful Bill Act (H.R. 1, Public Law 119-21) created fees that USCIS cannot waive and that rise with inflation each year. The FY 2027 adjustment applies to filings postmarked on or after October 16, 2026 (USCIS alert).
| Fee | Before Oct 16, 2026 | From Oct 16, 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| I-589 asylum application (principal only) | $100 | $100 (unchanged) |
| Annual Asylum Fee (each year the case is pending) | $102 | $105 |

| I-94 fee | $24 | $24 (unchanged) |
Note: the G-1055 edition dated 10/07/26 still shows the pre-October 16 amounts. The USCIS alert says requests postmarked on or after October 16 must include the new fee or they will be rejected.
Since February 5, 2026, certain H.R. 1 asylum, parole and EAD fees do not apply to members of the Ms. L. settlement class and their qualifying family members, under a court order. Other fees: I-821D (DACA) is $85, plus the I-765. See applying for asylum in the US and TPS in 2026.

How to pay, and how to avoid a rejection
- Online filing through a USCIS online account accepts card or bank payments and calculates the fee for you.
- Paper filing: pay by check, money order, or card using Form G-1450, or by bank account (ACH) using Form G-1650. USCIS never accepts cash, even at a field office.
- Pay each form separately where the instructions say so, and pay premium processing separately.
- Mandatory e-filing: an interim final rule effective August 11, 2026 lets USCIS require online filing for certain forms after giving at least 60 days’ notice. As of October 11, 2026, USCIS had not required online filing for any form.
What to do next
- Open the USCIS Fee Calculator and enter your form and category on the day you file.
- If your filing involves asylum, parole, TPS or an initial EAD in those categories and will be postmarked on or after October 16, 2026, use the new amounts.
- Check whether you qualify for a reduced fee or Form I-912 fee waiver before paying in full.
- Download the newest form edition from its uscis.gov page. Fees and editions often change together.
